What we collect, why, and how we look after it.
This policy explains what personal information Asylum Advanced Aesthetics ("Asylum", "we", "us") collects, why we collect it, how we look after it and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. It covers this website, our online booking system and client portal at book.asylum.nz, and our clinic in Addington, Christchurch.
Asylum Advanced Aesthetics is an appointment-only aesthetics clinic in Addington, Christchurch, a trading name of Asylum Industries Limited. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact our privacy officer at team@asylum.nz or on 0800 ASYLUM.
If you email or call us, we keep the information you give us so we can respond.
Our main website, asylum.nz, does not ask you to create an account. We use the following tools to understand how it is used and to improve it:
These tools use cookies and similar technologies. The information is collected by those providers and may be stored overseas. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. Blocking cookies won't stop the site from working.
If you were a client before we moved to our own booking system, we brought across the information we already held about you, such as your contact details, appointment history and treatment notes, so that your care carries on without interruption. That information is now covered by this policy. Reviews you left on our previous booking platform are shown on our reviews page as a first name and last initial, with the service you had.
We only collect what we need for these purposes. We don't sell your personal information.
We only send you marketing if you have agreed to it, and every marketing message has a way to unsubscribe. Booking confirmations, reminders and aftercare messages are not marketing and are part of looking after your appointment.
We only share your information:
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we choose providers that are required to protect it to a comparable standard.
We only take clinical before and after photos with your consent. They are kept in a private part of your client record that only you and our staff can open. We will only use your photos on our website, social media or marketing if you have given separate, specific permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time for future use.
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Client records are kept in secure systems that only authorised staff can access. Access is limited by role, and each client can only see their own records in the portal.
We keep your health and treatment records for at least 10 years after your last treatment. Financial records are kept for 7 years, as the law requires. When we no longer need information, we securely delete or destroy it.
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
To make a request, email team@asylum.nz. We'll respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
